Dear Friends,

This week, I’m excited to bring you Fantastic Friday one day early – on Thanksgiving!

As we embark upon the holiday season, I can’t help but stress to each and every one of you how grateful I am to serve in the Washington State Legislature.

I am honored to spend my entire career in the service of others. At the core of my work in Olympia is the wellbeing of all Washingtonians. Each day, we roll up our sleeves and do whatever we can to help those pursuing a home, a job, a place to grow and thrive with our families. We’re working to ensure that our children are safe and healthy.

We are working, simply, to create a Washington that you are proud of. I hope on this day of thanks, you feel proud of where you live.

In addition to Thanksgiving, for more than a decade we have also honored the following day as Native American Heritage Day, a time that is set aside for love and reflection. This is a day that is always emotional and dear to me, as I look at those who pave the path on which I walk, and extend a hand to those following behind me.

Tomorrow I would encourage each of you to honor the countless generations called this place home since time immemorial. Through their perseverance and work, today’s Native and Alaska Native tribes continue to grow and thrive. Together we can celebrate our incredible cultures, and continue looking to the future for the next seven generations to come.

I want to thank all of the incredible Native and Alaska Native people – my friends and family – who have taught and guided me throughout my life. You have helped me accomplish so much in my life, and I am eternally grateful for all of the support and love I continue to receive.

Finally, I hope you are all able to take some time this long weekend to embrace your loved ones, enjoy each other’s company, and find some time for relaxation. You deserve it!

Happy Thanksgiving, from my home to yours.
